Therefore, on this occasion we will explain the pros and cons of keratin extensions.

Advantages of keratin extensions

Different methods will come and go, but keratin extensions of keratin have been used for years and are still among the most requested.

Naturalness: If placed correctly they are more undetectable than other types of extensions. This is because, being extensions point by point, or by tufts, they create a very natural movement. Keratin fuses with your hair and forms a perfect union. And since keratin joints are small, you can do almost any hairstyle without looking like you’re wearing extensions.

Comfort: They do not bother to sleep at all. If you are one of those people who need absolute comfort to be able to sleep, you will like keratin hair extensions.

Duration: If you take good care of them, they can last for 4 months or more. If you compare it with other types of extensions that only last about two months, they are very advantageous.

Safety: Keratin is safe for hair, as long as you use a good quality one. It is best to use the Italian professional keratin. This Italian keratin or Italian polymer is currently the best in the world market for extensions. Increasingly demanded for its resistance and high melting point. It achieves a perfect adhesion and is very clean when removed.

Disadvantages of keratin extensions

Time of placement: Several hours are needed to place these extensions. Although this will depend, in part, on the number of extensions you need and the skill of the person who puts them on.

They have to be placed by an experienced professional. Otherwise the results could be catastrophic.

Price of the placement: For the two previous reasons it can be more expensive than other systems of placement of extensions.

Retouches every 6 to 8 weeks: After that time it is likely that some extension will need to be replaced.

Keratin extensions, opinions

The biggest concern of those who use keratin extensions for the first time is the possibility of hair damage. However, experience has shown that keratin extensions are safe if placed well. It is equally important to remove them correctly so that they do not damage the hair. To make removal easy and delicate, you can use the extension remover solvent.

You may have heard opinions about keratin extensions that the glue melts and damages the hair. But the truth is that this can only happen if keratin of poor quality is used, not professional. In our extensions we use a professional keratine for extensions, resistant to high temperatures, with a melting point of 180°C (350°F).

The testimonies of negative experiences are always due to a bad placement. That’s why we recommend that you try to see other work done by the professional who is going to place them. That way you’ll see beforehand how it works. It is important that you are meticulous and careful in the placement, so that the joints are not seen and no damage to your hair occurs.

Keratin extensions damage hair

They have been in the extensions market for more than 10 years. If it were true that they damaged the hair in some way, they would have long since disappeared.

Some users of this type of extensions complain that in some salons they have asked for and paid for premium quality hair and then realized that they have been given hair of inferior quality. That’s why we recommend that you first buy the quality hair you want and then take it to a professional to have it fitted. That way you’ll know what hair you’re getting and you won’t get any unpleasant surprises.

In the following video you can see premium quality loose hair that can be placed with keratin:

Extensions of keratin, how they are put

There are two basic ways to put keratin extensions:

Heat fusion technique: the heat level used is lower than that of a dryer or an iron. That’s why the heat applied doesn’t damage the hair.
Cold fusion technique: This is a new method that works with ultrasound. However, the device needed to make this type of placement is quite expensive. Therefore, placement with this technique is the most expensive. Besides, not every salon where they put extensions has one of these devices.

In addition, if you do not want to place them with these types of installation, you can also choose to place them with rings siliconized. With this system no adhesives are used and you can place them only with a few professional pliers.

Keratin extensions, care

This type of extensions requires some simple basic care. If you don’t take care of them, they could cause you trouble after a few months. If you’re one of those people who are lazy about taking care of their hair and devoting some time to it, you might want to choose another type of extensions for yourself.

After the extensions are applied, do not wash your hair until at least 48 hours have elapsed. Respecting this time is important so that the keratin does not soften and the extensions fall out.

Be careful when you iron your hair. Do not iron, at maximum temperature, just above the keratin junctions. The heat from the iron could soften the keratin, if it is not resistant to high temperatures. That could cause the extensions to come loose.

Avoid washing the hair with very hot water, as the keratin could soften and, as a consequence, the keratin points could be stuck together. If that happens, you should run your fingers like a comb to separate the extensions from each other. You must do this on a regular basis.

Products to avoid

Oil-based hair products can soften keratin and cause it to fall out. Therefore, avoid applying oily products to the hair. If you can’t live without your serum, be careful to apply it only to the ends of your hair.

After a month and a half or two, when your hair has grown, that part of your hair between the scalp and the keratin junction may become tangled. To avoid that it is recommended that you do something simple but effective. You must comb the roots of hair that has grown with a fine-toothed comb. This will prevent dreadlocks from forming at the roots of your hair. Do it gently so as not to push the keratin bond down. Comb, lock by lock, from the scalp until the comb touches the keratin. If you do that every day you’ll never get dreadlocks from the roots of your hair.
